A.D.Shroff (1899-1965) economist, industrialist and public spirited personality, deeply influenced India's economic development. He completed his studies at the University of Bombay (Elpinstone College) and the Lonndon School of Economics. A non-official member of Indian delegation to Bretton Woods Conference at the end of World War-II, Shroff assisted in setting up the Industrial Credit and Investment Corporation of India (ICICI). He was onr of the earliest to propagate planned economic development of the country. In 1944, along with seven other leading industrialist, he authored what is popularly known as the "Bombay Plan". He also wrote extensively on economic subjects. |
